This month, we are thrilled to highlight Dr. Peter Castillo in our volunteer spotlight! A board certified Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Castillo currently serves as the medical director of Swan Medical in Los Gatos, CA. With over 15 years of experience, he specializes in reconstructive pelvic floor surgery, helping women address quality of life issues that occur as a result of childbearing, trauma, surgical complications. While Dr. Castillo is an incredibly talented physician in the clinic, he has proven to be equally talented and compassionate in his work with LIG Global.
Having been inspired to participate in medical missions by good friend and mentor, Dr. Ernani Sadural, co-founder of LIG Global, Dr. Peter Castillo eagerly joined a trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras with LIG Global and One World Surgery. This was Dr. Castillo’s first medical mission, but after his experience, he affirms it is “sure to be just the beginning.”
Reflecting upon his trip to Honduras with LIG Global, Dr. Castillo remarked that the entire trip was incredibly rewarding, and it humbled him to see the collaboration by such a large group of people in order to provide quality care to those in need. Volunteers from all different backgrounds and levels of experience came eager to help and undertake any unknowns brought their way, culminating “in an amazing example of teamwork throughout the week of our brigade,” Dr. Castillo reflected. Perhaps most important, Dr. Castillo mentioned that “everyone that I encountered understood the greater purpose...to serve.” We thank Dr. Castillo for his commitment to serving others and for reflecting the core values of LIG Global in doing so!
