Goals Accomplished
1. Treating impoverished women needing medical consultation and surgical intervention
A. St Paul’s Hospital: performed 25 GYN surgeries, 13 Plastic surgeries,8 Breast surgeries, and 20 colonoscopies side-by-side with local OB/GYN, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Anesthesiology Residents and Attending Physicians and Nurses. Promoted exchange of knowledge and skills via medical conferences on topics such as colonoscopy screening, management of breast lumps, preoperative evaluation, HPV update and TAP Blocks for postoperative pain control.
B. Molo Health Center: Performed medical/obstetric/cardiac consultation of indigent patients and numerous EKG’s, echocardiograms, OB ultrasounds and cervical cancer screening through VIA.
C. Calumpang Maternity Center : provided stand-by assistance for cesarean delivery
D. Calumpang Elementary School: provided well-child clinic with vision and ENT screening (1,200 students)
2. Chameleon: a center housing sexually abused girls aged 5-18 years.
A. provided basic health care
B. HPV immunizations to the young girls
C. Mental support.
3. Iloilo City National High School:
A. Junior and Senior HS girls (600 students): Held a symposium on GYN and Reproductive Health, Breast self-examination, Child Rights Advocacy, Prevention of sexual harassment and abuse.
B. CPR Training of Red Cross Youth volunteers who will become master trainers for rest of HS (5,000 students)
C. Tree Planting program and Environmental Stewardship Program
D. Promotion of Sportsmanship and team spirit by learning and playing the sport Ultimate Frisbee
E. Performed medical examinations on over 100 high school teachers
4. Amamaros Elementary School: Library building and project on learning English as a second language.
